i know we've gone over this before, but it bears repeating.

weary is a synonym of exhausted.

wary is a synonym of cautious or watchful.

ex: i know you are probably weary when you make this mistake, but be wary of it.

Are you weary of being wary of people misusing weary and wary?

That needed to be said. Thank you.

Plus, throws and throes are entirely different. There is no such thing as the "throws of ecstasy," numbnuts. I think I've seen that error recently on DailyTech and Wall Street Journal.

There is a good thread here.

Their responses are spot-on.

They're going to keep posting in it.

Seriously, I know we got taught this in middle school English. You do great harm to the English language when you misuse the various forms of "there"

Okay. Ones that I see here all the time:

Wreckless isn't even a word and, if it were, it would probably mean without any crashes. Reckless is without caution.

Brakes are the things on a car that slow you down.
Breaks are interruptions.

One that I hear a lot on TV and in movies:
"Here comes the calvary."

Calvary is a biblical place. The cavalry comes to your rescue.

While we're on grammar, let's address the issue of how annoying it is when people add an apostrophe s on words that are plural rather than possessive. That really grinds my gears - especially when businesses do it.

Grrr.

this topic really peaked my interest. i definately find the butchering of the english language ludacris. in fact, i would pay everybody a $100 if i thought it would put an end to this behavior because it has a negative affect on my view of our society's intelligence.
