I like them with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar.

I don't like them with that dude from Extreme. I never bought another album after Hagar left.
 
My wife says "Van Hagar rocks and you're all a bunch of testosterone laden, tone deaf baboons." and "That's only because she knows Sammy Hagar." LOL! :laugh:

i think both singers sucked equally
eddy is one of the best guitar players ever but i think van halen sucked with both singers
props to haggar for the cabo wabo tequila though!
 
VH was great with Dave, sucked with Sammy. So repetitious.

Yet I loved Sammy's stuff with Montrose and his solo career.

My thoughts exactly. After Dave left, the band just wasn't the same. The odd thing is, I really like Sammy, just not his stint with VH.
 
Roth was more of a Showman but his singing style took a toll on his voice. They did get back together with him for a short while after Hagar left but he just couldn't cut it.

At first I didn't like Van Hagar but after awhile they grew on me. They weren't as dynamic as they were with Diamond Dave but they did put out some great music IMO. Of course the earl VH was out of this world and set the Music Scene on it's ear!

Find out for yourselves! Van Halen is back with Sammy Hagar at the mic, and the tour starts in Greensboro, NC on June 11. I'll be there. 🙂

As far as them sucking or being repetitious with Sammy, that's a bunch of horse crap. Anyone who says that has obviously only listened to the few pop-ish songs that radio plays, not the whole albums.
Each Van Hagar album was different, and after OU812, they were getting progressively harder and harder until the split in 1996.
The last song they did with Sammy was Humans Being, which was on the Twister soundtrack, and also on their Best of, Vol 1.
That was an ass-kicking song.

BTW, every studio record with Sammy hit the charts at #1. They are the only Van Halen records to do so.

I grew up on VH with Dave.....in his day, there was no better showman, EVER. But Dave, sadly, is a mere shadow of himself, both vocally and physically, plus his antics that worked when he was in his 20's really don't cut it today.

BTW, they have tried reuniting with Roth 3 times since 1996 with no luck. 3 new songs are done with Roth, but will likely never see the light of day.

If anyone wants to hear some rare, unreleased VH w/DLR demos, head over to the VH Forums and register...it's free, then go to the forum downloads section and they have the original Van Halen demos that Gene Simmons recorded for them, plus other stuff you can't get anywhere.
