PSA for all: buy legit bike helmets. This came across a news article I was reading and just thought I'd share.

Had a client who was on his bicycle, got hit by a car, and landed head first on the pavement. He had a serious concussion even with the helmet on. Would have been dead without it, or seriously brain damaged. Yeah, I think it's a good idea to make sure your helmet works.

Was in Singapore and I'm trying to get home after a fun night with a date. Saw something that neither of us will ever forget.. a bike driver was lying flat on the road and his head was crushed by coming under the wheels of a car.

That fucked me up quite a bit. Bought a real helmet after that.. never going with a cheap one again.. only real one with a jaw protector.

As the saying goes, there are certain things in life you just don't skimp on: beds, shoes, condoms... and definitely bike helmets.

Even with a good helmet your brain is still just an egg inside a padded jar. Only have one brain folks. Makes me think of a friend who was shopping around for budget Lasik. Good initiative, wrong category!

I have friends that love that Maine is a no helmet state. Hearing them rationalize not wearing one is a source of endless amusement for me. I wonder if the fakes are better than nothing.

I guess this is news as to why this is in P&N - but uhh... I think were all for people wearing a helmet and not cheaping out on it either. I think we can all come to an agreement on that

There are certain things that you are better off buying locally at a real store that specializes in that purpose. Safety gear is one of those things. Too much fake crap online. Especially places like Ebay and Amazon.
