PSA: Ubuntu users, gotta do a little work to clear up a security vuln

That's funnier then hell. So stupid.

Apparently when you install breezy it asks for your user's password. Then it stores this password in a file for later reference, but never actually deletes it. So your user's password is stored in plaintext in a file in the /var directory.

Turn around time on the fix is something like 9 hours since the person stumbled across this.

The fix you can do to make sure that your system is safe is to change your main user account's password. You should be doing that every once and a while anyways.
 
It doesn't happen all the time.
I just installed Breezy on this machine and questions.dat did not contain the password I entered at install time.
