Your rant would have no teeth if it weren't for the existence of the dreaded "group project" a.k.a.: A situation where the only way to succeed is to do multiple people's work and then still have them fuck it all up during the presentation anyway. I'm still not sure what lessons are suppose to be learned from these situations. I think its that you're surrounded my morons at all times and they'll try to steal your soul if you aren't constantly at the ready. But logically the takeaway there is that you should get good as mixing fast acting poisons and learn how dissolve a body with chemicals.

Aside from that situation, just ignoring them should work well enough.
Anyway, a couple notes:
1) You're in community college. While a great way to save money and get your core credits out of the way...one must expect the level of retarded uselessness in your classmates to by even higher then that of the "regular" college population.

2) It should it (marginally) better after freshmen year. Since a large portion of freshmen are really just there to drink beer and if possible screw, the first year is going to be the worst. Many of them can't even be bothered to put in the bare minimum effort required to pass a class and will either transfer to the business program to decide to take a year off to find themselves...working at Big Lots.

I hate the fucktards that keep raising their hand giving their dumbass input on every topic that nobody wants to hear. There is 1 or 2 in every class

and 9 times out of 10 it was the student over 30 and they have this wealth of life experience that they just can't wait to share.

I love the old people in my classes. They study so hard, but still do average most of the time. They don't realize that most of the studying that they do is useless. Professors will admit all the time that lectures are the terrible for teaching.

When I skip classes or don't pay attention to the professor during class it is because I realize they won't help me learn a thing. I instead focus on teaching myself through resources that I find helpful. When you use resources that are effective you find that it takes much less time to understand a subject.

What I've learned from College is that you can only depend on yourself for learning; don't expect the professor or the TA's to be of use. This is not saying all professors and TA's are bad, but you can't expect them all to be great teachers either.

First of all, it makes absolutely no sense to have a rage filled rant about how stupid and lazy college students are at a local trashy community college. Call me crazy, but maybe the smart students who were motivated made it into a real university?

Next you'll complain about the lazy kids at the real university in your psych 1010 class. Well does anything need to be said about this? My psych 1010 professor was a real touchy/feely/lovy/on so many anti depressants the world was a grand place crazy individual and we all went into class knowing that on the very last day of class he will talk to us all individually and ask us what grade we wanted. Every person in that class received an A.

This may seem like an oxymoron, but I think lazy and intelligent often go hand in hand when it comes to young college freshman/sophomores. Usually the classroom is laid out like this: Front row consists of an equal mix of very intelligent over achievers and dumb as a rock morons who at least want the professor to see their face to help boost their struggling GPA. Middle rows consist of regular B students who will do enough to get whatever grade they need. Back rows consist of 80% highly intelligent lazy students who end up acing all the exams and often make the curve. The other 20% are the people that everybody really wonders if they were actually enrolled and accepted to the university.

Every now and then you'll get into a specialized (non required) class with one of the lazy intelligent students and suddenly they come alive with great input and are actively engaged in the discussion without being obnoxious. I guess they are suddenly not bored any longer.

I think 80% of the blame should immediately be put on the professors. I don't know why but it seems that all that is required to be a college professor is the ability to read powerpoint slides word for word. I am shocked at how often I get this even in my Masters courses. It is very disappointing for being at a supposedly top ranked program. The whole ranking thing is complete bullcrap anyway.

Yeah, please people don't be that guy. And don't answer class questions with an anecdote about your life.

if I can complete all my assignments on time and appropriately and pass all my tests on time with the rest of the class then I do not agree that I need to be in class "every day" or study "everyday" If I can do it all in one day then I'm sorry it takes you every day.

other than that....im ok with your rant.

I wouldn't put to much blame on the professors, I read this kind of funny article that if they get to many bad reviews or fail to many students they usually get fired so its in their best interest to just give out a D- to that kid that handing in a couple wikipedia printouts for assignments and not rock the boat to much.

I think my father gave me some of the best advice before entering college: In high school the professor walks in and says "Good morning". It's best practice to greet him back. In college, when the professor walks in and say's "good morning" you write it down.

lol, remember this one guy in CPEG 267 who answered every question. Even the rhetorical ones, with absolute seriousness. He kept doing it even after the rest of us started calling him out on it. Hell even the professor was shooting him dirty looks by the end of the semester. :D

Yeah I went to a top tier university, math/econ major, slept through/almost never attended any class before 10am, partied 8 days a week and managed to get a degree in 4 years.

I'm not in med/law school or anything now but am doing well enough for myself 4 years later.

Even this is valuable, because many of us eventually enter this very situation at work. You have to learn how to handle it sometime.

I know. :p That post was tongue in cheek mostly. The sad truth is its an important life lesson. That said, I could have done without learning it over and over again.
