Got a message about ten minutes ago that reads:

Admin: Hello you are welcomed by administration steam.

You immediately should inspect the account online-anticheats http://storensteampowered.com/fgcl-anticheats .

If you do not execute it, the account will be disconnected in a current of 5 hours. For disconnected and ban accounts steam responsibility does not bear!

...bad grammar aside, his link actually takes you to

http://storensteampowered.p.ht/fgcl-anticheats/

Yeah.

Anyway, he found me through Anandtech's BC2 group. He has also gone by these aliases:

He is registered here:

Probably a zombie account. May have fallen to a different (or the same) phishing attempt and was taken over by the phishers.

The broken English is funny though.

I never understood this why hack an account that only has digital goods. I understand going after eBay, amazon, best buy, ECT but why something that doesn't ship any physical products? Are they looking for names & addresses?

Stored CC numbers? Game libraries?

If you use Steamguard even your password and login are useless to them. Assuming they aren't the same as your email you have Steam connected too lol

Lots of people who use steam make for easy passwords and usernames because LOTS of people use the account.

Last year I forgot what email i used for steam and used a old one, someone else must of used that email address because I emailed me password for it. The guy only had the Orange box on his account, lucky I am a nice guy and let steam know it was messed up.
