Episode III Release Dates Announced
April 05, 2004

The circle will at last be complete when Star Wars: Episode III is released to theaters in the United States and Canada, with a near-simultaneous release around the world, on Thursday, May 19, 2005. In Japan, Episode III will be released in July, the traditional month for Star Wars premieres.
Exact information for other countries outside of the U.S. and Canada will be coming shortly, so keep checking starwars.com for full details as May 2005 approaches.

In North America, May has been the traditional release date for Star Wars films since the first movie in 1977. The North American release dates for the previous films in the Star Wars saga are:

Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope - May 25, 1977
Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back - May 21, 1980
Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi - May 25, 1983
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace - May 19, 1999
Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones - May 16, 2002

Lucas could make the greatest film in the series, yet in the eyes of many Star Wars geeks around the nation, the movie will inevitably suck. There's nothing Lucas could do to make this movie good for you guys. Not even having Natalie Portman in a full nude shot would make this movie good to you guys.

another pos?
man, if you compare LOTR and SW trilogy (the new ones), each LOTR sequel breaks previous box office record.
on the other hand, so far it's not the case for SW.
i have no high hope for it.

Give me a break.

The magic and the charm of the original trilogy is completely missing from the last two films, and nostalgia has nothing to do with it. The films fail constantly. Many of the actors are miscast, and given absolutely horrible lines with which to work. Most of the antagonists are uninteresting. I left the theatre each time not caring for any of the characters in either film.

The special effects are absolutely astounding, but you're left feeling like you're watching a video game. Everything whizzes by so quickly.

On top of all that the Lucas hype machine and product tie-ins are revolting. A turn off.

I pray the third film will be enjoyable.

I'm not going to write off this film until I see it.
Clones wasn't bad, it just wasn't good either.

Are you trying to imply that "Episode I" was not a steaming clump of cinematic excrement? Or that "Episode II," while less foul-smelling than its predecessor, featured laughable dialogue and a flimsy plot that was mostly an excuse for endless special-effects shots?

If Lucas ever makes another movie that is even halfway decent I'm quite prepared to judge it fairly.

Yeah, Ep.1 was somewhat of a letdown, I thought Ep.2 was pretty good and I cannot wait unti Ep.3 comes out! I remember going to see each movie in the original trilogy when they came out in theaters and how exciting it was (granted, I was only 4 when A New Hope came out so I'm not too sure how much I cared) , and I still have the anticipation of seeing the "new" Star Wars.
