PSA: Staples new rebates

At our store meeting today, they announced that our new rebate system aka "Easy Rebates", will no longer require any UPC code sent in for 90% of the products that Staples offers rebates on. All you would have to do is enter some information off of the reciept, they process on the new site and send the check. Just wanted to pass on this info 😛

That's how costco works now. You send in a receipt that they print out for you with some information, and they send out a check.

I said the exact same thing to my GM this morning. He said that they will be tracking it, and since it takes 3-6 weeks anyway, that if someone returns an item before that they will try and stop it. He said that customer service is number one, and that if 2% of the people abuse it, to staples its worth it to the other 98%. I expect to see this roll out before thanksgiving and black friday.

This from a thread over at FW about this:

"1. Go to Stapleseasyrebates.com
2. Enter Store Number, Offer Number, and a Serial Number being printed at the bottom of every receipt and product serial number where applicable. No Clipping, No Mailing, No hassales. Rebate check will be in the mail.

Only catch It is currently not available for all product. Look at the "TERMS AND CONDITIONS" on the rebate form printed in the store, if it says "Staples REBATES THAT WAS EASY", then you can do this submission for that product."

This could turn out to be a great thing. For example: we purchase a Maxtor hard drive. Maxtor has a rebate, but wants us to send in the original UPC symbol. Staples does not require the UPC for their rebate, so we can include it with the submission to Maxtor. If anything, it will save lots of hassle. 🙂

These rebates are definitely not working for me. I hope this is just due to tons of flow. One of my rebate forms worked out of the six I have tried. I bought about $600 worth of stuff BEFORE rebates, and its should be more like $300 after rebates.

I hope it work out too. Rebate is a real pain in the as. Before it seem staple has no way to tract the transaction. Now they can trace it and can accually cancel your rebate if you return it. I just afraid like if you have problem with the product and go do an exchange for a similar product, it would not void the rebate. Anyway, I hope there is no bug in this easy rebate system. I just submitted 4 easy rebate and questioning if I should send it in also.

If only they could get it to work now.
