I have no problem with splitting lanes, I split lanes.
But....
If you are going to split and go up to the front at a light, you better get the fuck out of Dodge when the light changes.

No lallygagging and trying to find first gear after the light changes. I am not waiting on you.

Also, I like pie.

another dead soldier tonite olds?
Just got home from work.
Some doofus on a Harley waddled up to the front at a light and didn't notice the light had changed. Got pissed when me and the guy next to me went by him as he sat between us.

never heard it called splitting lanes... but if you're talking about a car getting into your lane because it will get them further ahead when the light turns green, I don't mind if they at least signal. I hate people who don't signal... it's like they feel like they can do what they want whenever they want - basically a fvck you to the guy behind.

Lane splitting is when a motorcycle moves up to the front of the line in redlights, and sits in between two cars. When light goes green, they go.

I'm still not a fan of lane splitting at all. It's not legal in Texas so I don't have to deal with it, but it feels like a stupid concept in general for a lot of reasons. Risk of hitting a car, missing the light changing colors, a car not seeing you, the light changing while you're trying to work your way forward...

The cars are not moving, so it doesn't matter if they don't see you unless they do a dumbass thing like opening a door. I guess that can't be helped though.

I'm more worried about cars not noticing me and just running me over at a night than a random door opening.

I have misjudged when I was a new rider and hit a car's mirror with my own. I pointed to a side street, stopped, apologized and told them I would pay for any damages. They inspected it, we chatted a bit after I explained how the I made a mistake and the bike's mirror folds in.

I don't know if its different for other riders, but I am much more alert when on a bike and will pay attention to the lights going the other way to know when to get ready. Bikes can get out of dodge much quicker than cars so I've never had a problem.

didn't know it was illegal in fl when i first moved here from ca... i thought my ass was on fire or something the way people started screaming and honking at me...

they finally made it leagal for 2 bikes to share a lane, but still no car and bike... one of the reasons my suzuki rotted away in the garage over the past 15 years...

Meh, if I'm that clueless, and I haven't been to date when riding, I'm sure not going to blame you for leaving me behind when the light changes if you leave me there stroking my cock or doing whatever the fuck that guy was doing when the light changed.

Here in Kahleeforneeya, it's not only when traffic is stopped, but also when traffic is just moving slow. I've talked to a few CHP who ignore it at speeds of less than 45 MPH, but the law simply says:

"Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible but must be done in a safe and prudent manner."

MOST people will give bikers a bit of room so they can pass safely, but there are lots of douchbags who like to crowd the lane next to them so they can't get through...and some who even open their door...

I've seen a few pretty bad accidents caused by douchbags who just can't stand the idea of a motorcycle getting through traffic and they can't.

agreed.

dear jackass who learned to drive on a farm,

if you're gonna get in the lane next to me and pass me at the light, then pass me at the light. don't get pissed and honk at me if your car is too cruddy to pass my piece of crap car. you should have just stayed in line, you lazy bastard. if you drive fast, i have no problem with you passing me, because i know you'll probably not slow me down by being in front of me.

and would it kill you to use a turn signal, you lazy bitch?

by the way, welcome to tcivilization, asshole.

When I go to the front, I am watching the cross traffic lights. When they turn yellow, I shift into first and get ready to di di mau.
