PSA: Spaghetti done right

1) cook spaghetti just up until the core is still a bit rigid (al dente!)
2) drain liquid off
3) add some olive oil and swirl pasta
4) add some butter and mix in well
5) add favorite sauce (what are your faves)

been eating Classico Florentine spinach and cheese; took awhile but it grew on me.

I enjoy basically any three-cheese pasta sauce, although there's a brand (can't remember the name, obviously sounds very italian) that I particularly enjoy.

I'm cheap, when we make spaghetti sauce..

2 cans of Hunts tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons of butter, and a packet of Lawrys Spaghetti sauce spices and seasoning.

brown a pound of lean burger, slip in some onions, salt/pepper to taste.. then add that to the sauce.

It's cheap, but it's good.. 🙂 lol

classico sauces are the best...unfortunately my local grocer doesn't carry florentine spinach and cheese...that was my favorite. Gives you crazy gas though.

If you're going to do it "right," you have to make your own sauce. And you have to call it "gravy." And you have to cook it all day. Crock pots help with that part.

I think that the secret of good sauce is pork. Doesn't have to be a fancy cut. Anything from Italian sausage to pork neck bones but IMHO very necessary. Of course, you can then add any other meat of your choice.

Try it, you'll like it.

Amen. My Italian grandmother (I think she's full Italian) does that. So incredibly good. She gave her recipe to my mom but it's just not as good. Must be her touch or something.

i can't stand it when people put butter in their pasta, Olive Oil is all that is needed.

I am also curious why you would add butter 😕

i know people that add milk to the tomato sauce too!!! very weird, but its kind of like asking why people add parmesan. Because they like it!

😀

My grandma on my non-Italian side puts sugar in hers. It's pretty bizarre, although it's not that bad if you are expecting it.

I kind of like the Barilla pasta sauces. They aren't bad. I usually cook up some spicy Italian sausage, a little garlic and then add their marinara sauce. A couple scoops of sauce over the pasta and some freshly grated parmigiano reggiano cheese=yummy!

My sicilian relatives put sugar in spaghetti sauce.
