Oh, I wouldn't have a problem with that, but it isn't the case here. There's the stickied thread, but there are a lot of non-stickied threads on Skype, Teamspeak and Ventrilo. Someone starts a thread everyday either inviting anyone else up for a chat or trying to post their conversations from the night before.
Just to accurately track the history, I believe the spirit of what has now become Anandtech Ventrillo channel began with RossMAN volunteering to call Anandtech users, or have them dial his toll-free number back near the beginning of the year (or earlier? I can't recall Ross). It has since evolved through several stages and applications (Skype, TeamSpeak, and now Ventrillo) prior to settling on the latest medium, at least temporarily. A number of the threads created during these last few months were annoucements of such (a few "Call me, I'm bored" threads, a few Skype threads, a few TeamSpeak threads, etc). Now nearly all the related posts are contained within the Ventrillo thread that has been stickied.
As far as starting "a thread everyday", I do not believe such is the case any longer. There were occassional threads of some comments that (at least, to some of us) were universially hilarious, even if not present during the actual conversation - much like a thread about a joke, or humorous story. Considering some of the rampant blather than often ends up in Off Topic, I would deem this a fairly benign infraction (if it could even be considered such); and since the inception of this thread, has no longer been an issue as nearly all related comments are resticted to the aforementioned stickied thread.
Hopefully, that clears up any confusion on anyone's part. With that, I think I can safely speak for most involved, and say we welcome all AT members old and new to join in if they wish to do so. Please be certain to bring along your sense of humor, if you do - though occassionally we cover serious subject matter, as well. We're fairly accepting of all, except for Nik (who is the ultimate racist bastard).
Very truly yours,
Tim/Mark/Steve/etc
