How is this really going to work out? Not too good, I think.

Donald Trump was elected to break the elite. Of course they want to impeach him

Donald Trump now has an obvious path to a second term

Neither of those links came from Faux news. Some people are waking up and seeing the light.

You're quoting opinion pieces, one of them from a campaign adviser to Mitch McConnell, haha. Why on earth would it matter if they were from Fox or not? As for some people waking up and 'seeing the light', that's the same thing you've been claiming since before the 2018 midterms when Republicans got blown out. Trump's approval rating now is the same as it always was, in the low 40's. Unless it improves, he's toast.

I think even someone as far right as yourself would agree that Trump has committed crimes serious enough to warrant removal from office, correct?

None of this relates to Trump's guilt or innocence or whether he is causing harm for our country. I find value in being curious about what people think and do, and I feel these articles reflect something important that is being missed in those who identify with Trump.

I don't agree with "seeing the light". Outside of a look at the merits of the case against Trump and evaluating whether that case indicates a danger to the US, examining the Trump presidency is a lot more complicated. He represents something important that is being marginalized in American society and carries alongside his advocacy for those who identify with him a compensatory marginalization of those who are different and in many cases innocently so. That is my biggest source of sadness in our times. We are being constantly told that things are organized into two opposite groups and, depending on the context, one is good and the other is bad. I reject the whole paradigm.

First, there are most certainly fact witnesses. Lots and lots of them!

Second, even if you didn't like the witnesses presented so far Trump himself is the one who refuses to let them testify! Think about this incredible circular logic - you can't impeach Trump so long as Trump prevents people from presenting evidence against him. Does that make any sense to you?

I'm not buying any of it. This does not have bipartisan support, which should be the first clue that this is all a political move, simply because the Democrats don't like the president. This is not a winning strategy for the Democrats, as is soon to be proven. It's a cop out move by people who know they cannot win the presidential election. Very desperate act, IMO.

Not buying any of what? Do you deny that Trump is explicitly preventing the testimony of the fact witnesses you claim to want? If someone told me they were innocent and then prevented me from speaking to the people they claim could confirm their innocence I would draw the obvious conclusion - they are lying. What conclusion do you draw?

Can you explain why Republicans not supporting impeachment indicates this is a political move by Democrats and not a political move by Republicans?

He has no idea he’s in a bubble and he’s equally clueless to his use of circular logic. Some people think they’ve woken up but the reality is they are still deep asleep.

Find me any majority of Independents, Moderates, or staunch Republicans, who support impeachment of this president. There are not enough to make this more than Partisan on the Democrat's part. This forum is overwhelmingly left, so there is no surprise that the majority of the folks here support it. That's not the country and that is one reason why this idea will fail miserably.

I understand I'm in a bubble, the liberal one I am posting in, or would you prefer I use the term "echo chamber". Soon enough we will all see the results.

The impeachment of Clinton didn't have bipartisan support either, should he have still been impeached for lying to congress?

EDIT: Hell, even Nixon? Sound familiar?
The Judiciary Committee voted on October 30, to begin consideration of possible impeachment of President Nixon by a 21–17 party-line vote, with all the committee's Democrats voting yes and all Republicans voting no;[42]

Why not focus on the facts of the case and use those to determine who's acting out of pure partisanship rather than looking at the partisanship to try to evaluate the facts of the case?

(I know, because the facts are inconvenient. I'm just saying.)
'But there are no facts!' because the white house will not permit the facts to come to light

There's also the possibility that the GOP have no interest in upholding the constitution, only their grip on power.

You are assuming lack of support from the GOP while acting in good faith, which may not be the case.

Notice how their arguments are not against the facts but against the process...that should be the first clue...

Again, this has nothing to do with the merits of the case against Trump. And if you look at Nixon proves to be a really shitty indicator of what's important.

I also noticed that you bothered to reply to this post of mine and not the other. Since it too asks you to look at the facts instead of, for example, public opinion which you have unsuccessfully attempted to divert my attention to, will you tell me why you are rebuffing every attempt at looking at the facts here?

Facts are anathema to criminals and those that support them. He cannot and will not address them.

You're right. Also, nothing I post here is going to change your mind and what you post won't change mine. What you may see as fact, I may see as innuendo or opinion. My brain requires solid tangible evidence, not feelings, instinct, painted narratives by political pundits, the media, biased liberal professors sharing their own interpretations, etc. It is clearly obvious that the alphabet media has a strong political lean and works very hard to influence public thinking. You are exactly who they are looking to reach and they have been successful. I'm but a lone voice in a forum of like thinkers, or close to alone.

Here is my proposal because we both know the Senate won’t or can’t impeach. Putting aside all emotional ethics stuff too.
I’d be good with all previous communications with world leaders released to appropriate Democrats with the proper security clearance. They are not to be made public but they are to be heard by the previously mentioned person or persons.
Same with translators notes going forward.
Rule is for this President only and I’m okay with them expiring post election.
How does that sound to you.

Put aside the fact the President won’t agree unless the Senate pressures him.
I really don’t want to live in a world where current leader searches for dirt on all opponents but as I said earlier this can’t be a one side thing either.
