I wouldn't call it doa, but full scale free college is not going to happen. Plenty of room for something to get done if framed right.

There are many younger voters who are being crushed under student loan debt, and plenty of parents trying to save, but are freaked out by the $50k a year it will cost and looking for relief.

Something need to be done on tuition, US/Canada are run away most expensive post secondary ed in the world I am pretty sure. Free might not going to happen but it need to come down.

Well, you totally can. If there was money to invade and occupy Iraq...

Health care will actually pay for itself anyways. Tuition support will be painful up front but will be a profit in the end, same as addressing global warming.

Tuition support should be levied via higher corporate taxes--those corps that are getting more and more advanced, demanding smarter and smarter workers, are the ones that depend on an educated population if they are to exist. It is to their direct benefit that they should be shouldering the burden. At least, we decided long ago that they should be responsible for healthcare, which doesn't make much sense. But they absolutely depend on workers that are able to do the tasks that they demand. Remove private healthcare costs from their books, replace with universal tuition costs. Now the Feds don't have to deal with tuition and can focus on healthcare.

We are already paying the bill. Consolidating the how to leverage your position on the cost seems logical no? Government bureaucracy bogging down the process and cost is a legitimate concern. Is that the real fear? If so let's have a real conversation about that instead of pretending the private insurance model is functional.

And what does this have to do with the impeachment again?
It is OT, but if it bothered you that much, you should have skipped your preamble.

Thanks for the advice. No though on what I asked?
Look, you called me out for being OT, so I’m going to stop. I don’t want to derail this thread any further. Maybe I’ll start a new thread later today, if I can come up with a good title.

You also seem to miss 1 thing.. why is it France pays people to go to school/ college because it wants better professionals, but we don't?

There are threads on the discussion. You don't even need to start a new one.

It's highly unlikely that Trump will actually be removed from office by an impeachment. The Republicans in the Senate will simply ignore any crimes he's committed.

So the real goal here is to hold those Republicans accountable. The goal of the impeachment hearings should be making clear to the general public that Trump has committed crimes. And then making it clear to the general public that the Republicans are willing to allow him to commit crimes.

Then the general public will have its opportunity to render its own verdict on Election Day.

The fact that idiots like John Kennedy can lie through their teeth and get away with it is crazy. Do the damage spreading misinformation then go to another platform and correct yourself.

Unfortunately this tact is effective and will help drive public support for impeachment down.

Yeah, is he going to correct it on Fox? Probably not :(

Most people worried about costs are two-faced. Where were they when a $2 trillion, unfunded tax cut was being pushed through?
A shit ton of moderate Democrats were bitching loudly about that. WTF are you taking about?

Not to mention every candidate is for universal coverage and against the tax cut. The argument is between public option and single payer.

No links yet. Breaking News on MSNBC - a telephone interview between Bill O'Riley and Trump has Trump saying he really did not know what Rudy was doing in Ukraine, he has other clients he was working for, and he did not tell Rudy to go to the Ukraine.
Next, Rudy? Rudy who?
Under the bus you go. Wonder if he has better "insurance" than Cohen.

Heh.

Under the bus, with praise. Absolutely amazing considering the transcript of the Zelensky phone call.

I'm excited to see how things proceed in Judiciary. Some good Dems in that group and the Rs have most of the same clowns, so that should be even less interesting, but just as loud.

Didn't he do this before? Have a fake call with O'Reilly that "somehow" made it into the wild?

Which makes zero sense as even the “transcript” he released says he wants Zelensky to speak to Giuliani, not to mention multiple testimonies that corroborated that.

Oh good, he can't be protected by executive and/or attorney-client privilege then.

Subpoena away!

"I want to discuss this with my constituents and colleagues before I make a final judgment on this," Schiff said. "
Sounds like Schiff wants to do some polling of his own over the long weekend, since the show hasn't really played too well outside of the already decided. He hasn't been able to move the needle:
It's trench warfare, and these Schiff-show hearings are like artillery shells flying overhead. Maybe a few people get blown up, but nothing really changes.
Is this thing even gonna go to a vote? I sure hope so. What a debacle if not.
