If you bought 320 million tickets, you still wouldn't win.

If I recall, the odds are approx. 1:63,000,000, so if you bought 320 million randomly generated tickets you'd have a very good shot at it. If you bought 320 million tickets with numbers representing special moments in your life, no, you wouldn't win.

Of course if you covered all 63,000,000 combos you'd win. But if one other person won you'd lose because your payout wouldn't refund the $126,000,000 investment.

I think the odd is 1:175 million if you buy 1 ticket.

1 in 175,223,510.00

For those that want to buy a ticket or more, go get the ticket(s) ASAP. Don't wait until almost the cut off time, you could be unable to purchase them due to machine problem/computer from the headquarter/etc.

tickets are now $2 each, so it's still not a value until over 350. factor in taxes and the lump sum cut it probably needs to hit 600. factor in the chances of multiple winners in the frenzy if it ever goes over 600 and, well...

fools tax

after taxes you'd probably only get half that, though. still its a lot ofmoney

Technically, less than 1/2.

320M --> 198M if you take the lump sum, then you will have to pay at least 40% of that for federal, state, and local taxes (depends on where you live).

About 119M left in my case but I think I will take it. :p

Chances of finding you were Ross Perot's love child is better than winning the powerball lottery.
Besides, its all rigged.
Its rigged as to the number of winners, area of the country, and frequency of wins.
So even if you held a ticket with all the correct numbers, the system would still kick you off in favor of a more desirable outcome.
More impressive to have one individual to win $320 million than say for 50 people to win a share of $320 million. That would only figure out to $6,400,000 each. Not that impressive.
And even that 6 mill before taxes.
But $320,000,000? Sells future tickets. Better sell.
Yep. Its all rigged one way or another. So your chances at winning are pretty much impossible. You would have to hold a single series of numbers, shared by no other ticket, live in the pre selected winning area for that drawing, and THEN the system might pick your numbers.
First it is decided if a winner should be chosen or not for this draw. Then searches for a single series of numbers held by only one ticket, and only if within a pre selected state.
Bingo! We have a winner.
Hey... its organized crime. Always has been, always will be.
In the end everything is rigged only to sell tickets. Future tickets.
