Yes, the doorknob is full of germs. You've never had a cling-on that hit your hand as you went to wipe? It didn't happen to me, but it did happen to a friend of mine. I swear, it wasn't me.

that means i touched the doornob after i already washed.

hack off your hand with a sanitary hacksaw STAT

Umm..yeah. That's realistic.

Reminds me of the obsessive compulsive co-worker that would wash his hands after using the bathroom, then use a paper towel to open the door on the way out. He always left his dirty paper towels right at the door (at the exit of the bathroom).

Oh, the irony. He made such a mess they eventually put a trash can there just for him.

When I said "outside", I didn't mean just being outside. I meant after being out at a mall or something where you're touching railings or escalators. Places where you are coming in contact with something that many other people have also come into contact with. That's one of the ways bacteria spreads.

This is why money is so dirty. Everyone has touched it.

Eg. Someone coughs and covers their mouth with their hand, then they pull out their money with the same hand to pay for a meal at McDonalds. You then buy something from McDonalds and get the coughed on money as change. You've just come into contact with this guys germs.

So wash your hands people!

You HAVE a problem. I've been alive now for 35 years and never got sick from going to the mall and touching money.

What good does it do to wash your hands after you been to the mall, or outside as you call it? By the time you get home it's already to late to wash away bacteria.
If you are this worried you should carry disinfectant with you at all times.

Look, if you want to argue for the sake of arguing go ahead, but you look like an idiot.

Washing your hands when you come home, when you eat and after going to the washroom is called basic hygiene, not being paranoid or worried.

Chances are you've already been exposed to the bacteria and have developed immunity.

When washing your hands, make sure you rub them for at least 20 seconds (or was it 30?) Anyway, wetting your hands under the faucet is not washing your hands. :)

You should do the same with fruit to get the pesticides off... It's not gonna kill you, but there's no point in taking in what you dont need.

I found a new pediatrician after one told me "You really have to keep them cleaner than this" because my kid ran outside barefoot before going in for an appointment and had a little dirt on his ankle. Bullsh!t. Kids need to get good and dirty. Why do you think we have kids dropping dead after petting the goats at the state fair? Poor things have been in a sterile Lysolized environment their whole lives, that's why. Fvck that, my kids live in the country, they're going to pack around the chickens, eat carrots in the garden without washing them off first, wade in the creek, roll around in the yard with the dog. Do they wash their hands after using the bathroom and before meals? Well, usually, that's the rule. But they're going to grow up with healthy immune systems.

Nothing wrong with that :)

Who started by posting a dumb PSA? If you're not up for an argument or discussion you should log off and wash your mouth instead. People can get infected by your opinions.

Is there any evidence that money in circulation or "outside" has more viruses and bacteria than common household surfaces such as door knobs, counter tops or the keyboard you are using right now? I'd bet the two largest sources of bacteria you come in contact every day are in your own house, namely your bed and your keyboard.
