you can't get on the elevator when people are getting off it, and they can't get all the way off if you run up to the door the moment the 'ding' happens

That's how the monorail at the Pittsburgh, PA airport is setup. one side of the track is for boarding, the other side is for leaving.

And if you weigh over 250 pounds take the damn stairs if you are only going 1 floor, especially down.

Sounds like the most intelligent subway ever. I rode the NYC subway 6 days/week from 1986-1993; it was exactly as described in this thread. Train wasn't even stopped yet and people were prying the doors open.

Cool. I don't liek it when people do it though. What rly sucks is when you go ahead an let em on cause they won't budge, and then the door shuts before you get out. I came damn close to decking some dood in the face cause that ahppened an I was in a big hurry to get to a movie.

That's why I stand right in front of the door so I'm walking off as they're trying to creep on. They back off.

Couldn't be more true. My friend was working out of town (we live in NYC). He always said that people outside of NYC have no elevator ettiqutte. low and behold, Philly, Phoenix, LA, all rang true.

People should given a manual at birth.

I see it all the time. It's really kinda sad. Sometimes people in malls know a little bit better, especially when they see you coming towards them, they'll stop advancing.

Ugh...this is certainly one of my pet peeves that makes me want to actually scream outloud. I am awaiting my floor, the ding, the door opening.....to a cluster of jackass people blocking my way to exit:|
