Yeah, I emailed my dissertation to myself like 3 times a day when I was writing. Then copied it to a flash drive. Then burned it a few times, and stored a copy on my desktop.

Yea, I keep hourly cloud backups of important data/docs/ppt in Dropbox/Skydrive along with weekly HDD backups ever since my SSD died 2-3x over a course of 6 months.

That's what amazing about this to me. I've never written anything as daunting as a dissertation, but anytime I've written any paper I've emailed it to myself and/or other people multiple times before and after I got done, either out of necessity or just to be able to access it easily from anywhere.
