I was getting them at DQ back in the 90's.

Someone's late to the party, bitch.

You were probably getting them at combined DQ's - which probably had a single building/single storefront that actually had two distinct businesses that just appeared to be a little more integrated.

Now, Orange Julius is AT DQ, without the mixed-storefront approach. It's simply DQ, which now has Orange Julius items on the menu. (I think... haven't been into a DQ since they announced this).

A few might have existed like that before, but they generally kept it as two apparent storefronts within the same space.

I wouldn't doubt if they tested the unified approach (go into a DQ and see an Orange Julius menu or the items on the main menu - sort of like the coffee or frozen drink menu at McD's) before now, as usually they do limited testing to figure out if a new business strategy can even work. But the more recent moves were part of a larger brand move.

Used to have them in all the malls in town, then they disappeared. Never knew they went to DQ.....huh...go figure. Good to know though, hope they still taste the same.

Orange Julius is a bit like red velvet cake to me.

It's good, but it's never as good (or as creamy) as I'm expecting it to be.

I prefer putting orange juice and vanilla ice cream in a blender to Orange Julius.

have you lived in appalacia your whole life

not "some hipster thing"

were popular in the 90s especially in malls

orange juice and ice and milk and ice cream

Popular in the 90s and is now back and popular again for no reason? Sounds exactly like a hipster thing to me.

Besides that, they are fucking awful. It is a milkshake with orange juice in it. Disgusting!

I have serious problem with Orange Julius..it stems back to my early childhood days and being poor. Thats all I'm going to say about that.

It's like a creamy orange juice slushy, with a fair emphasis on creamy. A bad comparison would equate it to an ice cream and ice slush mixed, but juicier? :\ :D

Delicious, in a nutshell. The haters can hate, but they should skip their derrieres out of this here thread, mmkay?

I also may be terribly remembering the Orange Julius's I had growing up at the mall. I also made my own copycat version, but with ice cream for the creamy component, and well, slightly more milkshake-like. I remember them being much thinner, closer to juice but creamy.

with or without the raw egg?

This egg thing... I've googled and wiki'd, and I seem to have found what y'all mean, but I never experienced this.

You actually got a true "raw egg" added to the mix? As in, raw? Raw?

When was this?

I have no fear of the concept, I just never knew of the apparent option? That upsets me. :(
I hate secret menus.

:hmm:

I was a kid at the time - I stopped paying attention in malls awhile ago, and try to avoid them these days anyhow. And I've largely tried to avoid sugars and whatnot, so seeking out DQs or similar places would be almost against my at this time. ;)
