PSA: New Kaby Lake build? Avoid Corsair AIO coolers

I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone in the community know about Corsair not supporting Kaby Lake CPU's with their AIO coolers.

The latest version of Corsair Link does not support Kaby Lake CPU's, and will not read the temperature of the CPU. This means that you can't control the fan speeds based on the temperature of the CPU at all. When I called Corsair customer support, they refused to comment on when/if there will be support added. Furthermore, they do not comment about the issues on the official Corsair forums either.

You've been warned

Indeed. I would almost go as far to tell those jumping onto the early adoption Ryzen bandwagon to consider this as well. Based upon the technical information from a software engineer in the corsair forums, all Corsair needs do to have the software report Kaby Lake temperatures is to replace CPUIDSDK.dll with a more current version. Seeing as that's up to CPUID to update and maintain for new processors, one could easily surmise that Ryzen too will not be supported by Corsair Link software.

I assume you mean their software to control the radiator fan? Couldn't you just plug that fan into the MB CPU fan header and let the MB control the fan speed?
I don't have an AIO, so I may just be talking out of my a$$. Correct me if I misunderstood the issue.

That was never clear to me. There had been a recent thread about it. The recommendation was to use the Corsair Link software, but I couldn't understand why you couldn't just circumvent the assembly and control the pump and fans from the motherboard. It may be that the pump itself defeated this possibility -- I can't be sure.

I ended up having problems myself with Corsair. Their first version of the H100i is busted on me, and they won't fix it. And it just so happens, I am building a new Kaby Lake system as well. Good to know that they have some pretty poor support for their products.
