Stop right there - you don't honestly think I'm stupid enough to use, let alone pay for this garbage. This is from a townhouse in Guelph. I finally got the WLAN up and running - the walls are a blessing in disguise, because while they kill the transfer after a couple rooms, it definitely isn't going outside. Take that, wardrivers. :beer:😀

Now, back to the show. Lite-Speed Cable. Boy, does it suck! Even though it's free to the people living here ... god DAMN! 128Kbps download, 64Kbps upload? Are you kidding me? This has to be wrong, something must be messed with the wireless. (moves computer and AP to same room, checks signal) All set ... (runs tests again) WTF.

This seriously sucks. It's like going back to dialup all over again.

Edit - Yes, those speeds are KiloBITS, not kiloBYTES.

you're complaining about 64KBps up? 128KBps isn't the fastest DL ever but its pretty damn fast, and 64KBps up is damn near amazing.

Silence, mortal. For the CDN$15 difference, it is an issue.

Since they're not here at the moment, I figure I'll put together a quick "Why Your Connection Blows Dead Goats" presentation, so they don't bug me and try to blame me for the crappy speeds. I'd sure as hell be willing to throw in another $5 a month to get up to "normal" speeds for the area (1.5MBps/400KBps)

Hey, I made a pair of BenQ AWL300's play nice with an SMC2404WBR without that bloody packet-dropping syndrome, so I can't sux0r that bad. 😛

If it was free I'd take over what I currently have. As long as it gave good ping times in games thats all that matters to me. I pay $42.95 CDN per month for 5Mb down and 1Mb up, but don't download anything and only use the connection for gaming

Litespeed is useless for downloads, but for online gaming, my friends lite-speed is sometimes even faster than my normal cable.
