why the hell do i have to restart in order to apply a patch to an application? oh, that's right, because MS buried it deep in windows in order to fight their antitsuck case. :|

Whats with all the idiotic "smart"-ass comments? This isn't an issue for users like us, but you better damn well make sure your parents or relatives or hell even the person who does your taxes gets this patched.

But how do you pick up hookers?

Mass emailed. Thanks for the heads up.

You can set it auto-install and disable forced restart if you want, that's how I always leave mine. I know you can set it in group policy somewhere or probably just through the registry.

Thanks for making this a sticky in OT.

I've updated all of my machines at home. My wife and son are the only ones who use IE though. I use Firefox.

Question---- If you've already been infected and then install the updates. Are you still vulnerable from this certain attack??

I have a friend and he says his IE7 browser is locking on some pages, but he told me he already updated.

after the update....IE just locks up my whole computer. I just moved back to Opera. I only use IE for work stuff (their stuff is not compatible with non IE browsers).

1-No answer yet......... How about you?

2-I'm the same guy who asked the question!

1- Why hasn't anyone answered yet?

2- Because some people hate to read all the posts within' a thread before answering. Having to give an opinion right away, overrides their brain!

1-- Thanks, nice talking to myself.

2-- Nice talking to myself too!

While this is true, most updates do not take effect at the time of install but rather after the first restart after the install. This particular one's settings are such:

In some cases, this update does not require a restart. If the required files are being used, this update will require a restart. If this behavior occurs, a message appears that advises you to restart.
