PSA - left lane is for passing, if car can't pass get over

spidey07

No Lifer
1) Take car and drive in passing lane
2) Try to keep up with the cars now passing you on the right because you refuse to get over
3) Get ticked at being passed on the right
4) Punch the gas to try and cut off those passing on right
5) Huge puff of smoke and loud clanking sound means you are done.

I tried so hard not to laugh out loud, just tried to get away from him. He just wouldn't yield even though there was no traffic around. All I see is the guy punching it and a huge billow of smoke coming from his motor followed by the all to harrowing "clankity, clankity, clank...crunchity, crunchity, chrunch"

Yep, you're done. Left lane is for passing.

luckily our honda isnt to old and can easily stop those annoying people 🙂

I can't remember what it was...looked like a civic or an older nissan hatchback. You could tell he was in bad shape because he would blow smoke everytime he accelerated.

Guess that one big push was all it took.

motor = done

Yes.

It was an older import. Didn't pay too much mind.

I feel bad for the guy (as I've blown my fair share of motors), but karma's a bitch now isn't it.

true story coming home today.

The whole car was just engulfed in smoke. Exactly like when they blow a motor in racing. Sounded like bottom end (rod). Crunch, crunch, crunch.

Funny thing is he just kept going...took him like a half mile to figure out that maybe, just maybe he should go to the emergency lane.

Granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake! Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block, and replace the piston rings you fried.

heh, from the sound of it the rings were the least of worry.

Now the crumbled matter of rod/piston/shaft would make for a nice picture.

crunch, crunch, clank, grind. Like you took a piston and threw it into the bottom end at redline. Sounded like throwing large hunks of metal into a washing machine on high.

when I was a teenager, I heard/saw a big block '68 firebird lunch the bottom end while riding my bike. I hear this big roar and tire squealing from behind me, and turned my head just in time to hear a big boom and see all the oil dump out of the riddled oil pan, along with pieces of pistons and rods. I think he might have missed the 1-2 shift🙂

I could have swore I saw/heard metal hitting the road.

Man, the smoke clould and that sound. At 70 MPH as well.

Not really much point in stopping when the motors gone in a beater. All that would do is increase the towing bill to junk it.

I bet you did hear it. I heard an equipment tire blow one day on the trailer I wa towing, in a noisy ass dumptruck. Later that afternoon, the pickup I was following blew a tire. Heard that one too.

I drove my old beater with a blown engine for 2 weeks back in HS, until I could get a new (used) car 😱

The car woudn't get above 45 MPH, and made a HORRIBLE noise under the hood 😀

If that's all he has then why not use it?

Meh, I'm a car guy. I wouldn't torture her like that.

Then again the few motors I blew...sure they ran. But it was just so cruel to her.
🙁

Heh, it was awful. Damn thing still ran though. Hell, driving the broken car still beat the cheeze wagon.

Was quite the humbling experience though - I will never forget when I was driving through my neighborhood, and the guy mowing the neighbor's lawn gave me a nice sarcastic "WHOOOO" when I drove past with my engine knocking like mad 😛

Ya know....to this day, I could never come up with an accurate description of the noise. But you, sir, have nailed it. 😀 I thought the engine was gonna come through the hood!
