AUSTIN, Tex.—On Monday evening at the hip SXSW festival, Microsoft announced the availability of its new Web browser, Internet Explorer 9. Presiding at the launch was Corporate Vice President of Internet Explorer Dean Hachamovitch, who, in a reference to the software's use of hardware acceleration on Windows 7 and Vista said, "Our approach was to tap into the PC's power the way it hasn't been before." Hachamovitch also highlighted the browser's new trimmed-down look, "The browser should be a stage, a backdrop. We asked, how can IE make sites shine. This informed everything we did."

IE9 is actually pretty good. I've only been using it for a day and a half but it's looking to be my daily driver, I really like it.

meh, sxsw is when a bunch of out of town douchebags replace all the in-town douchebags and have a party to celebrate how douchebaggy they are.

<--- is allowed to complain about how every change that has happened in austin since 1997 has only upped the douchebag quotient because he got to austin then

is it supposed to be blank?

ms needs to give up on browsers. IE9 is terrible. Tabs to the right of the address bar is flat out retarded.

LOL I decided to give it a shot...and unlike practically every other program, it gave me a list of shit it wanted me to close before it'll install.

At least it had an 'ignore this' button. :p

I don't mind IE lately. I'm an avid UNIX based distro user, but I can appreciate cool shit when despite who it comes from. I'd give IE9 a shot.

Do note that the manager in charge of IE and Windows 7 at Microsoft Netherlands said that to use the new IE9 functionality you do need to have a videocard in your PC! But, he said, most recent computers already have one!

Seriously, can't they at least hire managers with an IQ over 50?

It looks like they tried to remake Chrome :( I also hate the home button being on the extreme right side,
