A number of members here have asked for my pic, some of you more persistently than others. I have several reasons for ignoring those requests.
First of all, I have posted my pic in the past in the general members' pics threads that perennially show up. Few people noticed or cared in those threads probably because few ppl knew that I was female. In general, my posts don't usually give away my gender unless I'm particularly offering a female perspective (advice in YAGTs for example
).
Based on these observations, it's obvious that the only reason for the more frequent pic requests recently is that I finally have 'Girl' in my nick, which is a superficial reason IMO. I don't care for superficiality in general, and that includes male attention based on superficiality.
Another reason is that there are too many of you on this forum that are just disrespectful towards females. and I'd rather not have my pic under the public scrutiny of those types of guys, that's all. Yet there are still quite a few members here, both male and female, who don't fall into this category and who have bothered to get to know me in PM, AIM, or #neochat. I have had no qualms about sharing my pic or even webcam with them if/when they asked.
So basically, showing my pic will be on a show-me-respect-first-and-if-i-like-you-enough-maybe-i'll-show-you basis.
