If you're going to WRITE sarcastically on ATOT then do something to differentiate your sarcastic prose from your sincere prose.

e.g.

I'm sorry if my sarcasm meter cannot pick up the irony in your pixilated talk.

End Public Service Annoucement.

If you can't tell sarcasm when you hear it, something is very wrong. Even in text it's generally reasonably easy to distinguish.

Heh, on top of that...imagine those people posting on a forum. Makes it even tougher when its text. I understand where you're coming from though.

yeah, I sort of agree... IRL, it's easy to tell when someone is being sarcastic, because you have some non-verbal clues to go by (facial expressions, tone of voice, etc).

on-line, when all you have to go by is text, it's pretty hard.

sure, it's hard to tell when someone's being sarcastic on the internet...but considering the type of people who post on internet forums, you can probably assume they're being sarcastic more often than not.

Besides, it's funny to see people get all flustered when they don't pick up on the sarcasm.

Um, that sarcasm was easy to distinguish. I think you may just be mentally handicapped.

No, I wouldn't. The post asked about secure methods, the first reply was obviously sarcastic.
