I'd say it's selling like hotcakes but that would be an understatement. Market watcher iSupply says Apple will sell 12.9 million iPads by year end. That's up from the original estimate of 7.9 million. If you thought the Wii shortages were bad...

"The iPad is shaping up to be the 'Tickle Me Elmo' of the 2010 holiday season," said iSuppli's Rhoda Alexander in a statement, meaning that "product demand [is] expected to vastly exceed available supply."




"iSuppli believes that the only limitation on iPad sales now is production — and not demand," Alexander said. "Apple has taken a very controlled approach introducing this product to new markets, with manufacturing limitations likely being the major inhibitor on how quickly iPad sales expand."

So I guess if you're wanting one, now's the time to get it before the prices get jacked up on eBay. I wish I lived in a family that gave $500 gifts for Christmas. I'm lucky to get socks and a sweater.

haha true, although I am thinking of getting my bro's to join me in springing for one for my mom as she played with one and thought it was the coolest thing ever. She is not very computer literate and it would be perfect for her to check her email and do some recipes. It is funny because when I took her to an Apple store to play with one, her first response was "It is like magic!" lol, I kid you not....its like steve jobs paid her to say that haha

I see where your mom is coming from, I've been on computers since TRS-80's. And honestly the 1st day I bought my iPod Touch 1G I was floored at how cool I thought it was. I couldn't imagine how much I would have loved if it I had never really touched a computer before. I stay out of the path of iPads for this very reason. I know as soon as I pick one up and start to play with it I'll have to have it.

The iPad is great for people who don't need a computer, which is probably most people these days. Even me. My desktop is basically just a giant gaming console right now. I'm holding out for the EeePad though. I'm not as optimistic as Steve Jobs is on the demise of Flash and we have nothing like Hulu here.
