I was stuck behind some guy doing 25 in a 55. The roads were wet but fine. I was the three cars back, so it wasn't safe for me to pass. People would come flying up behind us and then have to nail their brakes because of this wanker.

So please...if you are afraid to drive, stay home. Don't make things bad for every single other driver out there.

If the road was long enough with no cars ahead I would've passed. Then honk my horn as I pass, which, according to NJ, is the law. 🙂

happened again today. First snowfall of the year, a very light one at that, and idiots were doing 25 in a 70.

was raining here today idiots doing the same thing. some of them even managed to veer off the road, i cant wait till it snows

Two things:

1. Idiots who do not know how to drive in different weather. You either get morons who drive so slow in snow you get STUCK going uphill when everybody gets a "ripple effect" stoppage, or you get some bozo in an SUV that forgets that 4WD still means 4 wheel STOP and goes careening into the guy in front of him because he is still doing 70 down a 55 in a snowstorm.

2. For some weird reason there have been a LOT of accidents out here in NJ. More than I have seen in a long time, 6 in the past 5 days AAMOF. Almost all of them being tailgating bumper-smackers (you see the hood of one car curled up behind another with its 4-ways on). Are people forgetting how to drive?

One final pet peeve. Why the hell are bumopers not at a standard height? WHat's the point of having one if it does not contact the other car? Should sedans have bumpers above their hood level? Should SUV's be requited to have a bumper extension (like tractor trailers) that make contact with the standardized 15" height for cars?

Ah well. Just had to get that out. 😉

What's new is in the last torrential rain we had was not only everyone driving slow with hazards on, but some came to a stop in the traffic lanes instead of pulling off the road.

Total stop and not intending to go until the rain let up.

I called the PD...it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I was absolutely shocked that my drive in wasn't much worse due to the flurries and wet roads. That usually spells disaster.

What I always find amusing is how when we fall back an hour and everyone has to drive home in the dark you would think that there was a foot a snow on the ground with how slow everyone starts driving. Takes about a week to adjust back to normal speeds.

Issuing drivers' licenses essentially increases the tax base for states, so they will continue giving them to every idiot who wants one. Imagine how big many state budget shortfalls would be if they suddenly lost 1/2 of their drivers (a conservative estimate of how many shouldn't even be allowed behind the wheel): money for license, money for tickets, property tax on the car (in some states), money for emissions testing, money for safety testing.

Never bothered me. What's the hurry? You could not live in ok. One lane country roads everywhere. Farming implements. Old people. and 15 under is normal.

I also agree, timid drivers should stay off the roads.
As to standardizing bumper heights, nice idea, but it probably will not happen.

It is not unreasonable for me to expect people to do above the minimum speed on an interstate. In fact, it is unsafe for someone to do less than the minimum speed. That, and some of us have things to do. If a person buys a house, it presumably stems from their lack of desire to live in their car.
