it's a long running scam. if they don't have a contract to do work on your curb/property they are in violation.

I dont mind throwing them a couple bucks, but the guy seriously couldnt understand why I wasnt giving him money when they changed my house number from 1XXX to 2XXX.

Supposedly they are "coming back tonight to fix it."

I help deserving people too but I won't contribute to a scam.

Screw that, painting without permission is vandalism IMO.

You know, you can buy a stencil and a can of black spray paint for less than $20 and do it yourself...if you wanted to. Mine wore off years ago but I don't care. You can easily read the house number that's actually on the house from the street.

How do they know you're the one that called?

Yeah but now people can easily go and hussle cash out of you for stupid jobs all because of the "we know where you live" threat

LOL!

I had never experienced this until moving to New Mexico. I felt bad for the guy, so I gave him 10 bucks.

It did look nice.... No overspray. I hate that.

I told all my neighbors to question the perp about a contract. Our neighborhood is no longer badgered with the address grifter.

Wait, what?

So y'all city folk have people who come to spraypaint your house number on the curb outside your home, then come ask you for money?
