I'm quite surprised there were people at a 12:30am showing. I always thought that would be the 'dream' movie watching time. Truth is, 1pm - 3pm showings from Monday to Thursday are the quietest, most relaxing showings. During the school year that is.

It's a kids movie, you know the risks. I'm surprised there were so many at 12:30am, but it's still a kids movie.

It's no more of a kids movie than Toy Story or Cars. Yes, stunning visuals, but the dialogue is so far beyond dumbass kids that it's obviously just a light-hearted movie for adults that's visually stunning enough for kids to shut the fuck up long enough to see. Hannah Montana is for kids. Ice Age is for adults (and I bet the parents enjoy the rare peace and quiet once in a while!)

Ice Age is not FOR adults. Everything you mentioned is just well written enough to have subtle jokes that kids won't get, but toys that are living/talking/etc is most definitely meant for kids. It appeals to both just so adults have movies that they can enjoy taking their kids to, but that's about the extent of it.

I also think the stunning visuals can appeal more to the adults that have some sort of grasp at what needs to be done to get such visuals. I mean when a bugs life came out and toy story after that they were the first total c-gen movies, which was pretty amazing to see when we're used to hand drawn cartoons. Most kids couldn't grasp what the difference is, but dammit it had talking fucking toys so that's awesome.

If it was Sat morning 12:30AM/Fri night then tough shit, kids got no school. If it was Mon-Fri then it's understandable.

Yup. I took my 2 year old to see Child's Play when it came out. Your argument is completely valid. :p

PS I don't have a 2 year old, but if I did I certainly would be a responsible parent instead of taking them to the movies past midnight.

There's nothing magical about some arbitrary point on a 24hr clock. Anybody can see any movie they want, at any time. If a child's misbehaving, then it's the parents fault for not controlling their children. The time is irrelevant.

True enough except that it's summer so there's no school

Let me see here, 12:30 am showing is to late to take kids to a movie on the FORTH of JULY, when they had probably just had enough time to get to the theater after the fireworks.

Most kids are worked up by loud noises and tend to stay awake after the fact.

I wonder if the OP was beat to go to sleep as a kid, if not he should be beaten now for being a moron.
so you're going to take your kid to a 12:30 showing, that will keep them up till at least 2? lame ass parenting

those aren't the kids that are trouble some tho, it's the non-stop yappering toddlers and crying babies.

to be perfectly honest, I still feel they should have their own theater, or just not be allowed in. wait for the dvd, the whole movie experience is meant to be giant screen, loud, and ENJOYABLE for the masses.

I have before and that doesn't make me lame, my kids are now 19, 18, and 16, and I am sure they will turn out to be better parents than any of you schmucks that think taking a kid to a kids movie past midnight on a weekend in the summer, on the FOURTH of FUCKING July is bad parenting.

I recommend that you stop arguing with them. They have no clue what children are really like and also have no clue how to raise one.

hey man, im bringing my 4yr old daughter to see that movie! but shes not an annoying child, shes very content while watching a movie. and besides, i come prepared, any need she might have while there is taken care of immediately and i bring stuff for those situations. only issue would be getting up to use the potty.

I got nothing against kids, but people who

A: Bring their kids to the movies knowing they're not likely to stay quiet through it all

B: Don't either get their kids to be quiet or remove them immediately when they start intruding on the experience of others

C: Take their kids to movies obviously inappropriate for a child their age, at a time where they should long since be asleep (as was the case for transformers)

Should be shot on sight. Okay maybe that's a bit harsh but they should know better >(

wait.. you went to a showing of a movie made for small children and are whining because there were small children there making noise?

Nevermind the time of day, its a movie for kids and the main audience is kids.

Lol....

This, and get over it.
Seconded - 5 yr old granddaughter loved it.

I haven't seen the Ice Age movies, but most of the 3D animated "kids" movies appeal to adults as much as to kids. I don't think it's to much to ask for parents to either take their kids to the movies at a time when other moviegoers would expect them to be seeing a movie, or prevent their kids from ruining the movie for other customers. I know either of those by itself is too much to ask, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for one or the other.

Don't see animated movies in theaters then.

Personally, I'd rather not spend 10 bucks a ticket and another 10 for snacks and drinks and have to deal with screaming kids and chatty obnoxious tweens

I'd rather be in a theater full of kids than a theater full of fat fucks who are eating. I have said it before, I would gladly pay an extra $5 a ticket for a no-eating theater. I fucking hate the sound of M&M bags rustling around and the revolting smell of buttery popcorn and that disgusting sound of fat motherfuckers shoveling the shit into their mouths. I absolutely can't stand the sound of eating, and popcorn has to be among the most revolting smells on the planet.

That's not his point. His point was that, if you cannot control your children and cannot stop them from being a public nuisance, both the parent and the child need to be removed from the situation. I completely agree with him.

i'm definitely not seeing the movie based on scientific principle.

the ice age was NOT the dawn of the dinosaurs... there were no pterodactyls... there were no t-rexes... i saw this on the commercials and wanted to throw my remote.

if i had kids of my own, i would not take them to see it. but since the closest thing to kids that i have are my gf's kids, i'm gonna campaign her not to take the kids to see it and not to buy it when it comes to dvd.

it's the principle... i'm against making american children dumber than they already are.

I hardly go to see movies at all cus of the many reason stated above. I hate people with cellphones on, kids crying, people laughing at the serious parts and crying at the funny parts, people kicking your chair, expensive ass drinks and food, waiting in line forever to pee, and so much more.

only time I go to movies anymore are late night shows on weeknights... more often than not, there's like less than 10 people total in the theater and I can wear a hoodie and feel like donnie darko except not leave half-way through to burn down Patrick swayze's house.
