I have a Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR with an Opteron 175 and an ATI x850XT PCIe video card. I have had stability issues with this rig ever since I installed the new video card (moved up from a 6600GT). Nothing is overclocked and the case is (air) cooled very well.

After striking out on every possible solution to the problems I figured there must be something physically wrong with the video card. I initiated a support ticket with Sapphire which required me to open the case to get the serial number from the card.

With the case open I noticed that the video card was seated directly over the chipset fan. My chipset always ran a little hot but it didn't concern me. Anyway, long story slightly shorter I moved the video card from the top PCIe slot to the bottom one so that it no longer was in the way of the fan. After making this change things that used to cause it to hard crash are working properly.

Thought this may be useful to someone else out there.

The DFI boards were a bit quirky in general and possibly your likes to see a single video card in the bottom slot, although I would say that's a bit strange. Do you have the 4 pin Molex and the floppy drive power connectors attached to your board? Many have skipped attaching these and with a lower power card, see no issues. When they upgrade the problems start due to the increased power requirements for the new card.

I would check those 2 additional connectors (Molex and Floppy) to be sure you have power cables attached.

I do have all of the power connections in place and recently upgraded to a much better power supply because I thought that might have been the problem. It didn't change anything though.
