PSA: Hammer is probably the wrong weapon against a prostitute.

After he had "partaken'' the services of a prostitute, a 48-year-old man decided, rather than pay her, to attack her with a hammer, according to Miami police.


The prostitute fought back.


Police found Douglas Curtis Mann near the front of Edison Park Elementary School in Miami, bloody and unconscious.


The woman he attacked, Katrina Major, 29, had minor injuries, police said.


It began shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Northwest 67th Street. Mann had n attacked Major with a hammer to avoid payment. But Major wrestled the hammer away, hitting Mann with it several times.


The fight continued, moving from the home to the front of Edison Park Elementary School at 500 NW 67th St., police said, where they found Mann.


Mann was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition. Detectives were still investigating Wednesday and no charges had been filed.


Mann also is awaiting trial on charges from November when, according to police, he was accused of attacking a woman in similar circumstances.
