PSA: Goldstar electronics are really LG products

I was given a Goldstar VCR because the original owner thought it'd be a piece of crap. The quality of the unit (case, display, etc.) seemed to be quite good. When I looked online for a product manual, I discovered that it's really an LG product in disguise, which made me quite happy.

So if you see Goldstar when you're shopping for electronics, don't automatically count them out.

You're an idiot.

LG stands for Lucky Goldstar.

Did you not know that?
No, I didn't know that.

I guess that makes me an idiot.

Goldstar = Lucky Goldstar = LG. They changed their name back in the late Eighties or early Nineties to "LG" because it sounded more European and they were trying to move upmarket. Back in the Seventies and Eighties they were a pretty crappy brand I think--really low quality bargain basement sh*t. Nowadays they're about on par with Sony/Samsung with certain components (LCD panels etc.)

That is a well known fact. Lucky Goldstar is a massive business in Korea.

Among other things, I purchased millions of dollars worth of vinyl from them.
