Gmail finally lets you do what almost every email client (native or web-based) has always done: Hold Ctrl and press Enter to send.

I'm actually not sure when it started working. I somehow noticed a few weeks ago. I do believe I tested it when the "New Compose" option first appeared and it didn't work then.

You guys will probably tell me it has been this way for months or something.

This is actually bad. I'm a little quick on the trigger with my copy/pastes, and sometimes that CTRL-V and Enter turns into a CTRL-Enter...resulting in an unfinished email. Used to do that all the time in Outlook :(

This. I had to turn it off in the new Outlook because I would end up sending half-complete e-mails all the time. :\

Start using the mouse for copy/paste.

Yeah, I just did that by accident trying to copy+paste - sent an incomplete email out. WTF?

Yeah, I turned it off, stupid fucking feature in my opinion, just fucks up copy/paste, undo, etc.

It has been that way for at least a few months. It was sorely missing because you can do almost everything else with the keyboard.

don't like the new compose feature that does a new half-size window. I hate pop-ups. No ctrl-enter for me, and I'm fine with that.

How do you fuck up Ctrl + V and Ctrl + Enter?

The V key is worlds away from Enter/Return.

I do use Ctrl + Enter for line returns instead of new paragraphs that just Enter itself does. But I dont think thats an issue with the compose box.

Ctrl+V then Enter to move to the new line; when you are typing very quickly it sometimes blends together and ends up just sending the e-mail.

I love it. Definitely prefer the compose window over loading a whole new page and taking me away from the inbox.

you guys need to turn on undo send - gives you 30 seconds to undo sending.

I like it because it stays up, even when I have to click around to find something relevant to the email I'm composing.

What?! That's Shift+Enter.

I just tested in Word 2003 and Ctrl+Enter makes a page break for me.

Before this, I would have to use Tab, then Space. I already do that for lots of other things, but I've been conditioned to use Ctrl+Enter for email.
