PSA - Game Boy Advance SP - in stores NOW :D

Just in case anyone wants one, they are in stores now. I don't know what their availability is on them, but just about every retailer has started selling them. So much for a street date of 3/23 😛 (my store recieved 4 extras ;x)

From first hand experience, the light makes a BIG difference. Its just bright enough to make games look good, but not enough to be annoying (and of course you can turn it off). The button placement felt weird at first, but after playing it for about 10 minutes, I was already used to it. Its actually lighter than a regular GBA simply because it doesn't have akaline batteries in it 😀

Even though I wish Nintendo would have released this to begin with, its a great system.

mmmmmmmm, so yummy. MSRP? I don't care, since I'll buy one anyway, but oh well...

Any places have a good GBA trade-in program?

MSRP - $99.99

Gamestop was offering $40 if you trade in your old Advance. Don't know about EB.

😉 jk. I never play my Gameboy as it is....it'd be a waste of money to get a GBA SP

😛

Actually, we don't get discounts off new systems. If we ever get a used one then yes 😀 but whats the likely hood of someone trading in a system that isn't even technically out yet 😕 😀

Hmmmm, I have never seen a Gamestop however.

Well, its Gamestop / Software Ect / Babbages / Planet X

They are EXTREMELEY limited in quanitity right now and its highly YMMV because its on the stores discretion on whether to sell it "early" or not.

I'm still waiting for the black one!!!! 😀 That and I don't have any money right now. 😛

I called up the local video game shop, and EB. EB will give $40 in trade for your old gba, but my EB had sold out of the SP's. The local place had SP's, but would only give me $35 for my gba since it is purple. :/ I traded it anyways, i HAD to have an SP 😀 The light kicks ass, it's alot smaller, but I'm not sure I like the way it feels in my hand quite as much. There is also no headphone jack, nintendo will be releasing an adapter for that sometime. The sound quality is VERY noticeably better, the screen quality is the same, but the light makes it a million times nicer. You also don't need to hold it as close to your face because of the light. Before I used to have to look at it fairly close to where I could notice pixels and whatnot, but now I don't notice pixels at all. No more AA batteries, it has an included lithium ion battery, which you can take out by unscrewing a small philips screw, but you don't need to take it out at all, you plug it into the wall to recharge, and the charging adapter comes with. 😀 Very worth it overall IMO, although the price does seem a little steep to me.

edit: Oh, the battery lasts 10 hours with the light on, and 16 hours without. The unit comes fully charged when you buy it. 😀

Picked up my preorder form EB on Friday. I'm glad that I got a cobalt one, they actually do look pretty cool. The light is pretty good, although you do have to hold the unit at just the right angle to avoid a bluish tint on the screen.

Another cool thing about it is you can unfold the screen about halfway so it makes a 90 degree angle, set it down on a table, and act like it's a tiny laptop. Start typing away and see how long it takes for someone to wonder WTF you've been smoking.

Why didn't you just put an Afterburner into your old one. The feeling of self-accomplishment would have been so rewarding! 😛😉

No it doesn't. The battery is charged somewhat but it doesn't last near 10 hours. The instructions even tell you to charge it right after purchase.

That was the original plan, but the new ones are so small... 😀 and I always say I'll do things like put in an afterburner, but I never get around to it.

Probably not 10 hours, but it did last a good 5 or so, me and a friend played it quite a bit after buying it, and it didn't die, although the light went from green to red. It charged overnight, in fact.. hmm.. /me goes to play 😀

I've been thinking about trading my GBA up to an sp, but is the rechargable battery in there removable?

Yep, there's a tiny little philips screw holding it in. I would have taken it out and had a look but I don't have a screwdriver that small and a knife isn't working 😛
