Pre-Cliffs, The Dell Inspiron 1100 can accept 1gb sodimms and it can see and use more than 1gb of ram

I made a post in O.T. a week or so ago about an Inspiron 1100 I found in the trash, after cleaning it up and pulling gobs of lint out of the cooler it works fine.
I bought a battery, keyboard and power brick off ebay for a total of around $70.00 shipped.
But it was dog slow, it only had 2x128mb ram and one of them wasnt working, so I went looking for the best deal on ram and all I found said that the 1100 maxxed out at 2x512mb.
I already had a Toshiba Satellite a45 that had 768mb 1x256+1x512 so I pulled that memory and put it in the 1100 and planned on looking for 2x1gb for the Toshiba, found a deal at CircuitCity for $74.99 for KVR333SO/1GR and pricematched 110% to BestBuy for $67.99 each.

First I tried them in the Toshiba and then for the hell of it I tried one in the 1100, didnt expect it to work but it did, so now I have 1.5gb in the Toshiba and 1.25gb in the 1100

This mad a HUGE difference in the usability of the 1100, it is actually a pretty nice machine with the dvd/rw.

i just noticed with my 1501 it can accept 2gb sticks! i was going to snag one up when i out in an egg order but i noticed they are still way overpriced. then, i was going to get a 1gb stick, but noticed i had two 512 stick in my laptop- so i figured whats the point if i can only get 1.5gb more for now? might as well wait for the 2gb sticks to drop below $80.
