I would love to know just what MLK would think of things today in the USA. I didn't word that well, but would he be happy with the direction of the black community, white community, governmental policies, .etc?
I don't think this is what he had in mind at all!
I think he would be half of a Bill Cosby take responsibility and part Reverend Al Sharpron help the ones who have least the most.
Its an interesting question. I was not alive while King was so I really can only guess.
Local civil rights leaders are calling for an Arizona State University fraternity to be expelled after photos emerged of a Martin Luther King Jr.-themed party where attendees wore stereotypical hip-hop clothes and drank out of watermelon cups.
:
Images are circulating on social media of partygoers wearing baggy basketball jerseys, gang-affiliated colored T-shirts and bandanas. The partygoers also appeared to flash gang signs in the photos and used hashtags such as 'blackoutformlk' and 'ihaveadream.'
The photos also show people at the party wearing saggy pants and posing with hollowed out watermelon cups.
A fraternity at Arizona State University decided to celebrate the national holiday honoring civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., by being overtly racist.
The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at ASU held an unregistered party Sunday and dubbed it an "MLK Black Party," according to CBS5. Attendees wore basketball jerseys, drank from cups made out of watermelons and flashed gang signs for the camera.
The partygoers posted a number of photos on social media. Attendees included the following hashtags on their Instagram posts:
#myboymartin
#hood
#killem
#ihaveadream
#blackoutformlk
All of the people identified in the Instagram photos used by local media have since deleted their accounts.
As per usual, conservative white Arizonians showed just how classy they are by making a sick joke out of this holiday:

ROFL, yes, because we all know how conservative 18-22 year old frat boys are...

Lot of wisdom there. If one feels the need to preface something with "I'm not racist", it's probably a thought best not shared. The perceived need for the preface indicates one knows the following will make one appear racist.
Nope, just agreeing with it.You must think we are all retarded or something. For the record I understood the joke the first time around, now I suppose Incorruptible understands it as well.... maybe....
Are you referring to the fact I separated the communities by race? That MLK wanted one community, not divided by race? If so, fair enough. I mentioned them separately with no malice in mind or hidden meaning.
Regardless, if he were alive today what would he think of current race relations and how African-Americans are doing in general? What would he think of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?
No way to know for sure but I am very interested in others opinions (especially our African-American colleagues here) on what they think MLK would say and feel today.
You must think we are all retarded or something.
