is there a way to check for updates manually?

the last version of firefox had a button to do it, and 1.5 doesn't

I like FireFox better but it doesn't work with my forward and back buttons on my mouse, so I have to stick with Opera.

My 1.5.0.1 is up to 135mb used with 12 tabs.

If its still like this they should even have released .01, muchless 1.5.

Well, I have 31 tabs open, including some playing flash movies and a few running google vids (just for demonstration, this is not quite typical browsing behavior for me,) and I'm at 86MB.

YMMV, I suppose.

1 tab open for 1-2 hrs.... physical memory... ~77 mb.... virtual memory ~76 mb (cache cleaned out earlier)

How in the world can anyone think Opera is better? Does it have Adblock? FIlter.G for Adblock? A weather plug-in of sorts? Extensions of any kind?

I didn't think so

Holding at 55k for me. In my opinion, it's not about how many tabs you have open, but how long the window is open for.

Also, FF 1.5.0.1 will be a hell of a lot faster on OSx because some curcial modifications were made.

Actually I can. Chances are they didn't make the appropriate modifications to FF. Which, yet again is something Opera doesn't have. You can edit, modify, or otherwise do away with any aspect of FF, and there are 1000's of people who sit around doing this and then releasing extensions.

Besides, even if Opera were a LITTLE faster, which chances are its not. It still couldn't come close to FF in terms of useability and mod-ability

You seemed to have missed the sarcasm bus. But don't worry, you can catch the next one. In the mean time, have a beer.

I didn't actually click the link 😀

I just want to call out these Opera fan boys. Chances are they're the same TYPE of people who think Linux sucks because its ohhhh soooo complicated to use. They just don't have the knowledge or practice the exploration needed to have FireFox running at its full potential.

And for those complaining about the memory, are you still on a P2 333 or something? I guess I've just never noticed with my OC'd 146 and 2 Gig of Ballistix.
