Dear My Name,

The domain name(s) below have expired:

<removed domain to protect the innocent>

We sent renewal notices 90, 60, 30, 15 and 5 days prior to the expiration date.
We will now hold your domain name(s) for 40 more days. During this grace
period you may still renew it; if you don't, it will be CANCELLED and become
available to the general public.

You've selected to not allow us to auto-renew your domain(s), so we cannot
renew this domain name(s) for you.

YOU MUST RENEW THESE DOMAIN NAME(S) WITHIN 40 DAYS TO KEEP THEM!
I checked and it's still working. So is this godaddy being good to us or is this standard practice ? I have no need for the domain name anymore and am quite shocked to see it potentially working for another month+.

The length of time varies from registrar to registrar, but most keep it in an "aging pool" for ~30 days.
