Not funny. Someone even dumber than you is going to hurt themselves or burn their house down.

Quoted for bannage:

Have you ever wondered what the third prong on your appliance's electric plugs was for? I did, so I figured it out. The third plug is actually a way for the electric company to DOUBLE your electricity bill. You see, half of the electricity goes out the negative plug, and half goes out the "ground" plug... DOUBLING the amount of electricity that leaves your house!!!

How do I fix this you say? Well, on everything that has three prongs, just cut off the round "ground" prong to get an instant reduction by half of your electricity bill.

You're welcome.

Bullshit. I changed to those energy saving bulbs, turn off the lights, took 3 high powered computers permanently off and my bill still remained the same.

When I called, they said they don't check meters in my building and my bill is averaged out from LAST year somehow. Complaining to them didn't help shit.

If there is one company I wish I could blow up with some jumbo jets, it's fucking Con Edison.

thats not really an unusual practice from what ive heard. some companies offer the option of letting you pay the average of your bills or letting you pay the actual amount

Oh no...then the company can come back 2 years later with a MASSIVE electric bill and say its what his actual usage is.

Those guys don't play fair.

It's worked pretty well for me. I always get a month of "free" or reduced price electricity when The use vs amount paid is reconciled. It's nice knowing what you'll be paying every month.
