Even though flash is advancing rapidly and hard disks are advancing slowly, its gonna be a very long time before they swap places. I just got another terabyte for junk storage, on top of the 1 TB for My Documents. Cost me 60 bucks and its actually a good drive.
 
I'm going to have to agree - 1 TB SSD < 100 is so not in the short term; that will probably take quite a few years to reach....I'd say maybe 3 years or so

What i'm curious about is if there is any real different in daily usage between this current gen of drives (that seems to just about saturate 300 MB/sec SATA) and the upcoming gen (that seems to satruate 600MB/sec SATA). If not, and it only matters in huge transfers, then maybe it may be a good idea to jump on the current gen as the newer gen comes out in 6 months, at hopefully cheaper prices
