You look like you are over compensating for lack of intelligence.

Real world example:

Joe Blow, MBA, CFE, CISSP, PMP, CISA, CISM, EnCE
Senior Director

Someone I know sent out a company wide e-mail... filled with typos and grammatical errors. But she didn't forget to put over 5 "titles" after her name!

Eh, I list all of my professional designations because if I don't then I waste a bunch of time in administrative hearings defending my qualifications to certify the work I've performed.

I think it depends. If the title is relevant to the purpose of the business card, there's no problem.

However, if you, for instance, put both CCNA and CCNP on your business card, you are a moron. Or if you put your degree. That's pretty dumb, too. Unless it's a doctorate, in which case, your business card should say Dr. in front and you don't need to put it behind.

So what you're saying is you don't do it because you want to look stupid, you do it because other people really are stupid?

My favorite is a guy around here that is a "Certified Ethical Hacker" ooooohhhh no not that. But at the bottom of all his emails he has a huge C|EH logo embedded.

Pretty much. All of my work has to be certified by me and attested to by my boss. My boss is required to be a Certified Financial Examiner. If he signs his affidavit and does not note his CFE designation then it gets thrown out and I have to do it again. My certification of my work does not require my designations to be listed but my qualifications are contestable. I find if I sign the certification as "sactoking" it's much more likely to be contested than if I sign as "sactoking CPCU, AFSB, API, ARe". I also find that listing my degree can be beneficial since I work in a specialized form of tax and I have an MBA in tax.

Once I get the VCDX someday I'm putting that bad boy in my signatures whether you like it or not.

I'm a CPA and I don't ever add it to the end of my name, not even when I advise on accounting matters. Can't say the same for many of the other CPA's that work at my company. I also don't include my title unless I'm emailing someone I've never emailed before.
