Where I used to work, they used gaseous chlorine for the pools, up until about 5 years ago. Man, did it suck when you had to change out cylinders! Even with the door open, and the exhaust fan kicked on, you were certain to get a little whiff of chlorine gas from one of the empties you were changing out!! D:
Almost as bad as that was when I worked in the nuclear power plants in the Navy, and we had to add ammonium hydrate to the primary reactor coolant system. That stuff was so volatile that they would chill it with ice for half an hour before the evolution, and the engineering lab technician would wear gloves, face shield and apron while pouring it into the chemical addition funnel. And even then, sometimes when he opened the cap on the bottle, you'd get some that would vaporize to gas......one whiff of that stuff would simply shut down your throat so you couldn't breathe, in or out!! Luckily, I only had to do that one a few times, and never missed not doing it!!
