A mantis cracking a tank is pretty rare. I know a lot of people who keep them, and not one has had them bust the glass. They could in a tank with thin glass though. Mantis shrimp are awesome animals. Very intelligent, and very interesting. I keep reefs, and they often come as hitchhikers in the live rock we buy. I've been wanting to setup a mantis tank, but my wife is grossed out by them.

yeah, but they are so cool. I've got a few small ones that love to eat anything that may swim by them. They're small though.
Just make sure to feed them by hand, they like it.

I remember watching a show saying that matis shrimp striking power was like the velocity of a 22 cal bullet.

When we get a house and I have my own "tank room" for sumps, refugiums, equipment and the like, I will have a mantis tank!

Just make sure it is acrylic (mantis tank)
oh, and feed them by hand. they like that. tease them a little and tick them off. they like that even more.
for others reading they are not to be kept in a tank with other animals. They will utterly destroy fish much larger then them.
I still want a cuttlefish tank...
