Thats what my 40$ today found out. In other words, if you get Moet & Chandon, only settle for their Dom Perignon vintage stuff. Not the 40$ non-vintage crap. Its truly terrible and I am not exaggerating.

Im glad I popped the lid on this bottle before my guests arrived. Now Im off to buy real stuff as to not embarass myself.

which Moet & Chandon did you get... price doesnt matter one bit.

as i was telling another member last night.. champagne is like wine... comes in all different kinds and none of them have anything to do with money. some are dry, some are light and some are fruity.

* Extra Brut (Brut Sauvage) - Totally dry
* Brut - Dry
* Extra Dry - Medium dry
* Sec - Slightly sweet
* Demi - Sec: Fairly sweet
* Doux - Sweet

you could spend $150 on a Brut Sauvage.. but if you dont like totally dry, you are gonna think it sucks.

as far as Moet & chandon... they do a brut imperale that is quite nice for $40 per bottle.

To me Dom perignon tastes like crushed up asprin.
perrier jouet all the way.
;)

maybe you got a bad bottle? That's liike avoiding western digital because the hard drive went bad. Return the bottle and get your refund, or better yet, exchange. Unless it wasn't bad and you just "don't have the pallet" for that type of champagne. Maybe you should stick to Demi-Sec, or better yet, Bartyles and James?

I quiver when I drink Veuve Clicquot Carte Jaune Brut, btw

I've being drinking M&C White Star $34-38 every newyears for the last 10yrs or so and it's the best IMHO. I also don't like Dom, like KarenMarie says there are several styles and flavors of Champagne the trick is finding what you like.

actually, some good wineries have started incorporating screwtops.

Recently, i went to go and visit VeggieFrog for three weeks. it had been bout 8yrs since I have been to England and a lot has changed.

we went to dinner over her b/f's parents house and i bought six bottles of Kendal Jackson... the bottle looked EXACTLY like what I get here, and cost even more. I was really embarassed when we went to uncork it and found it to be twist top.

the wine tasted the same, but i was surprised that there was no cork.

I know very little about wine, but I understand that a screw top is actually a better way to store wine, but they're reluctant to adopt them because of the stigma. People really are silly about things like that.

The reviewer had similar sentiments as mine, except mine were somewhat more negative.
I guess i just dont have the pallet for this Champagne. It seriously smelled pretty bad though and I really dig normal red wines. I dumped it into the toilet and my bathroom was smelling pretty bad for a while.

Maybe ill try a Demi-sec next. My girlfriend really digs Raspberry-Truffle Champagne Cocktails (Chambord, Godiva, Champagne) - lucky I tested it out first. She's downing Clubsoda with the Chambord and Godiva now.

Thanks for the info, I seriously dont know anyting about Champagne - I barely know anythign about wines. I used to be strickly hard liquor.

yeah, taking the cork out is part of the whole experience! The best part is having a waiter bring a screwtop to the table without realizing it.

I have to agree popping the cork was the best part of that champagne!
