Had lunch with a friend today, he told me a funny story.
He has a 16 YO daughter that has a new guy she has been seeing. The guy drives a little Civic or something with a huge fart pipe exhaust... apparently a really loud one. In addition the kid has a whopping stereo in the Civic.
Now this guy lives in a pretty nice neighborhood, with a really anal HOA. The neighbors have been complaining to the HOA that they are tired of listening to this fart-pipe Civic, with the earth shaking stereo cruising the neighborhood at all hours. The HOA goes to my friend and relays the complaints they have been getting and tells him (in HOA speak) that he had best get this issue resolved.
My friend has a talk with the kid, tries to be really civil and nice about it, but basically tells the kid that if he doesnt get his car sounding normal that he wont be allowed to see his daughter. He tells him he paid an assload of money to have his family in a nice neighborhood and he wants to be on good terms with his neighbors, since yes, he plans to live here for a long time.
The kids pitches a fit about nobody gonna tell him what he can and cant do to his ride, and drives off in a huff, really winding up the gears and blasting the stereo.
Fast forward about 2 hours later in the evening.
The kid decides to "punish" the neighborhood and my friend by racing around the neighborhood with the stereo cranked for about 45 minutes....drunk.
I assume one or more of the neighbors failed to find the humor in this and phoned up the cops. The cops see the kid extracting his retribution, pull the kid over. The aftermath is:
Kid goes to jail
Car is impounded
Charges:
DUI
Transporting an open container
Minor in possesion of alcohol
Disturbing the peace
Running 3+ stop signs
Speeding over 25MPH of the posted speed limit
Wreckless driving...this might be a combination of all the other moving violations.
And a handful of non-moving related offenses. Taillight etc.
I dont think the kid gets to see the girl anytime soon.
