I've helped three friends in the past week with wireless network config. Stuff by (1) Trendware, (2) Linkskey, and (3) Airnet (Whatever fry's sells as their cheapest brand) DO NOT HAVE WIFI CERTIFICATION STICKERS ON THEM!

The whole point behind having the Wi-Fi sticker is that they have undergone BASIC, BASIC interoperability testing. If you buy a PCI adapter for 15 bucks and a 11g router for 25, expect packet loss and dropped connections. That is all.

I dunno, sometimes people deal with so much crap for years (dropped packets, etc.) to save 15 bucks over the next tier

Good to know what the price points are. Thankfully, I didn't spend nearly that much which must be why I've had no dropped connections. :D
