PSA:: Do not mix up your big "B"s and little "b"s...

It makes you look like an ass. I keep seeing this and it bothers me.

<rant>

*8 bits= a single byte
*A bit is represented by "b"
*A byte is represented by a "B"
*i.e. a 8Mbs connection is equal to 1MBs
*They are not interchangeable!

</rant>

Thankyou and have a good evening. 🙂 :beer:

I see it in the network forum all the time. I thought help put an end to it.

And no, I just used 1MB as an example.

You're putting an end to a Networking forum error by posting in the Offtopic forum?

Most question are asked by OT people. So yes. 😉

I want a 10Gbps connection, or 1.25GBps :Q

I wonder if I can persuade my state to hook me right into the new lambda rail 😀

I don't think using 'b' and 'B' to differentiate between bits and bytes are universally accepted - at least, I don't think there's a standard governing their use.

Ehh...? Yes there is. People break that standard all the time though as you can see. What can I say? People are stupid.
