Just an FYI for those using Vista Beta 2, Daemon tools will deactivate Windows and you cannot reactivate, only fix is to uninstall and then run a system restore.

So it's done it for more than one person and you've reproduced it successfully?
Otherwise, it's just one experience from one person with a highly non-reproducable configuration.

You can Google it, happened to me, did some searching and found it happening to others.

That's amazing. Is it a bug or intentional? Microsoft has stated that it's taking a harder stance against piracy, even though daemon tools has completely legal uses.

That's incredibly stupid if it's intentionally done by Microsoft. I use Daemon Tools so that I don't have to keep all of my game CD's near my computer/somewhere that I remember them.

XP is absolutely fine with me.

kind of my thoughts too, at least for a good while, waiting for all the bugs to be worked out and support to be there for vista.

I have a feeling someone's going to find a workaround for this. I hope they do, because Daemon saves my CDs and DVDS...

I haven't tried Alcohol 120% yet, but if that doesn't work either then I think Vista is going to have to go.

Is it just d-toolz? There are other programs out there that do the same thing such as MagicISO and PowerISO...

Seriously, it's about time I did anyway. I have no problem feeling smugly superior to AOLers, etc. yet here I am on XP :(

I have my entire DVD collection on my computer and use Beyond Media to manage them all... If I can't use dtools then no Vista for me.

OP, try alcohol 120% to see if it works on vista beta...

i prefer alcohol 120% over daemon tools.

Wait, is it just Daemon specifically, or is it ISO mounting programs? My main image mounting program saves me tons of time looking for my [lost] CDs and waiting for my CD/DVD drive to recognize the disc.

It seems to be a major compatibility error, and from what I've read, MS is actually researching the problem, so boohoo to all the conspiracy theorists.

I wonder if Microsoft's own ISO mounter will work?
