Pretty sure this will affect some of you guys.

4.5 million records, data includes name, DOB, and SSN. Community Health Systems provides IT services for health care providers including 206 hospitals across 29 states.

This will likely include patient info on myself, my wife and at least two of my kids.

Just a friendly PSA to contact your local health care provider to see if they're affected and find out what they're going to do about it. One of ours is offering credit services.

is INOVA hosipitals in northern VA affected?

I wonder if CHS uses Epic.

From a user standpoint I've heard, Epic is the shit. Allscripts, otoh, is a total piece of shit. But even that's better than the old DOS-style system one of my local hospitals uses. Kaiser's EMR is easily the best I've encountered.

But yeah, this should be an eye-opener for all the hospitals and various EMR systems to go through and recheck their security procedures.
