The past week or so it seemed that my truck had really started sucking gas (more suckling at the gas pump than usual) and what seemed to me as a loss of power. For the most part I had attributed it to just getting up there in miles (132,000), and extremely poor maintenance on my part.

This weekend I had went to check the tansmission fluid (w/ the truck running of course) and when I lifted the hood, I heard the massive sucking sound (fill in your own "Fords always suck" joke here.:p) Upon closer inspection I found one collapsed vacuum hose, and another that had collapsed and formed a huge hole in the side, this is where the sucking sound was coming from. This sounded like the straw thing that the dentist sticks in your mouth, it was about 1/4" hose.

A quick trip to Pep Boys yielded a couple of short pieces of replacement hose and about 5 minutes of getting the old ones off and replacing them fixed most all of the bad stuff I had been experiencing the past week or so.
